Looking for that OTTB everyone swears must be an Appendix? It’s time to meet Rough Edges — known as Reggie to the kid here, and “Egg” to his current owner because he’s just that good. Reg is the definition of an in-your-pocket gelding. He’s the first one to greet you at the gate, happily soaks up all the love you’ll give (especially if it comes with an animal cracker), and truly enjoys being someone’s partner. The more time you spend with him, the more willing and connected he becomes.

Under saddle, Reg is an absolute blast. He’s got that perfect, self-carrying motor — not hot, not a kick ride, just a willing, tuned-in gelding who genuinely tries. He moves beautifully off the leg, and stays right where you put him. He’s also super brave once he trusts you. Currently lightly schooling 2’3” with me, and previously jumping 2’6” with his former owner - he’s also developed a big interest in barrels, so whether you want to dabble in both worlds or pick a lane, he’s game.

On the ground, he is easy - He stands to be groomed and tacked, is great for the farrier, and is an easier keeper. Fully UTD on coggins, shots, farrier, and teeth. He currently wears fronts due to our rockier ground but was happily barefoot in a softer, sandier turnout previously.

Reg is happiest living out 24/7 or in a shed-row setup where he can keep tabs on his friends. He turns out quietly in a group or solo as long as he has a buddy within sight. He stands like a gentleman for blankets on/off and never makes you hike miles to catch him — he’s always coming to you.

I can honestly say he’s been a joy to have in the program while we leg him back up. He’s sweet, brave, fun to ride, and really doesn’t have a bad thing about him.
